Frosinone: Ghedjemis Not for Sale, Player's Will is Key
In his press conference today, Frosinone President Maurizio Stirpe addressed the potential player departures, specifically regarding Ghedjemis. "We need two forwards," Stirpe stated with a laugh. "Let's start with Ghedjemis. We don't consider him for sale, but if I were on my own, it would certainly be a scenario to seriously consider. With Clara Vista, a sale is not planned. Then, there's the player's willingness and also the offers to consider, but above all, the ability to replace a player we consider very important. To date, the offers received are not sufficient. They haven't understood that if they don't make a significant step, we always return to square one. It's useless to add 50 thousand euros bit by bit. The player naturally looks at the clubs interested in him. There were Celtic and Rangers, but also Monaco and Besiktas. These are all ambitious destinations, but there's also the will of the shareholder who reiterates his intention not to sell. As of today, the conditions are not met. Then, it's natural that all positions will need to be reconciled. The club cannot keep an unhappy player, just as it's not right for him to give up money he could earn. But, I repeat, as of today, none of these conditions exist."
Regarding forwards, we have a roster of 6-7 players where we cannot afford to make a mistake in our selection. Among the analysts, the head of scouting, the coach, and all the designated figures, we aim not to make a mistake. Among them, Cheddira is undoubtedly included.
I would like to return to the decision-making process that leads to the selection of a player. The coach, based on the style of play he wants to implement, must certainly state the characteristics of the players he is looking for. This also happened in previous years. We have never had a coach who indicated the name of the player; he was never allowed to, but he always indicated the technical characteristics. The coach is always informed in advance, but even machines can make mistakes. We hope, however, that the margin of error using technology will be reduced. The choice remains collegial, and the choice can only work under this condition. If, along with those who process the data, there is also the supervision of those who evaluate and know how to assess individuals, then the work can be done well. Then, once the idea is brought to the Board of Directors, its economic aspect is analyzed, and an opinion is given on the feasibility of the operation. We undoubtedly need to improve the mechanisms for sharing and choosing; we have been working together for a short time with all the geographical and linguistic barriers. The advantage of this method? It allows us to look at a broader universe of players. I have seen names that I would never have been able to identify based on my knowledge. Then, you need to be able to identify from these names, which is the real reason why collegiality is necessary.
