ITA M: Perugia Rallies Past Monza 3–1 in SuperLega Playoff Opener
Sir Susa Vim Perugia initiated their SuperLega Credem Banca playoff campaign with a remarkable comeback triumph, defeating Vero Volley Monza 3–1 in Game 1 of their Scudetto Quarterfinals series at the Pala Barton Energy.
Monza made a strong start to the match, clinching the first set with a score of 25–21. Diego Frascio was a standout performer for Monza, leading all scorers with an impressive 19 points, well-supported by Martin Atanasov who contributed 18 points.
However, Perugia found their rhythm from the second set onward. Driven by captain Simone Giannelli, the home team significantly improved their offensive execution and took firm control of the game. Kamil Semeniuk delivered an exceptional performance, scoring 17 points and earning MVP honors for the match. Wassim Ben Tara also played a key role with 15 points, while Oleh Plotnytskyi and Roberto Russo made valuable contributions with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Perugia comfortably won the subsequent three sets (25–20, 25–16, 25–17) to secure the victory.
This crucial win gives Perugia a 1–0 lead in the best-of-five quarterfinal series. Game 2 is scheduled for March 15 at 17:00, and will be hosted at the Opiquad Arena in Monza.
