Napoli Shifts Transfer Strategy, Eyes Chelsea's 2006 Prospect Guiu

Napoli may alter their transfer approach in the final stretch of the market for a striking reinforcement. After exploring high-profile international talents with extensive winning records such as Gabriel Jesus and Nicolas Jackson, a new name has emerged for the Neapolitan club, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport.

Napoli has initiated contact with Chelsea regarding Marc Guiu, a forward born in 2006 who developed at Barcelona, where he notably scored the club's youngest goal in 2023. He transferred to Chelsea in July 2024, experiencing limited Premier League game time but playing a pivotal role in their Conference League triumph with six goals in nine appearances. He also made two appearances in the Club World Cup, which the Blues won. Last year, recalled from loan due to Delap's injury, he scored 2 goals in 13 appearances, including one in the Champions League (in his sole appearance against Ajax). Therefore, according to Sky, Napoli could change their strategy and acquire him permanently as an investment. Another advantage is that, being born in 2006, he would not count towards the squad list, which is currently full.
