Venice Film Festival Adds 'Naza' Documentary to Competition
The Venice Film Festival has announced a late addition to its competitive program: "Naza," a new documentary from Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the directors behind the acclaimed film "No Other Land."
Shot at night from the rooftops of Tel Aviv, Israel, "Naza" aims to provide a detailed examination of the mechanisms contributing to Israel's alleged deliberate killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, as stated in its official synopsis.
This documentary is a production of The Guardian and JW Films, with James Wilson serving as producer and Jonathan Glazer as executive producer. Wilson and Glazer previously collaborated on the Oscar-winning film "The Zone of Interest" from 2023.
"Naza" is helmed by Abraham and Szor, who were also among the four co-directors of the 2025 Oscar-winning documentary feature "No Other Land." This earlier film documented the destruction of Masafer Yatta, a Palestinian community located in the West Bank.
"Naza" is scheduled to be screened at the Venice Film Festival on September 10th at 5:15 p.m. in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema. The directors, producers, and journalists from The Guardian are expected to be in attendance.
